We just completed a couple of in depth documentaries about David Leland’s excellent quartet of television films from 1981, Tales out of School.
These films are really a high point of British tv broadcasting and featured directors such as Alan Clarke and Mike Newell.
One 40 minute film involved an extensive interview with the films writer David Leland (Wish You Were Here) & its producer Margaret Matheson (Scum).
The other film was a half hour long and specifically about Alan Clarke and the making of Made In Britain and featured insightful interviews with actors, writers and colleagues that worked with Clarke.
Alan Clarke’s classic film starring Tim Roth still stands out but the other 3 films are equally excellent in their own right. Hopefully this release should go down well with viewers.
The films are now available for sale on both Bluray and DVD.
